The 2015 nuclear deal, otherwise known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)

INU - Nearly 80 years after the horrors of WWII, the world must once against unite to stop a regime hell-bent on global domination from destroying its neighbours and eradicating human rights. The international community must unite against the Iranian Regime, seek to expel the mullahs from power, and hold them responsible for their crimes against humanity.

The 2015 nuclear deal, otherwise known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), had the best of intentions when it was drawn up. It provided Iran with sanctions relief in exchange for a (supposed) halt to their nuclear programme, which the other signatories hoped would be enough to convince Iran about the error of its ways and bring the mullahs into the folds of international diplomacy. However, all it really did was supply Iran with billions of dollars in exchange for a delay in Iran’s acquisition of nuclear weapons.

Far from getting tough on Iran for all of its malign activities, this deal continued the worrying path of appeasement and, as a result, Iran was able to get away with its support of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, support for terrorist groups, and egregious human rights abuses against its own people.

That’s why Trump’s decision to work with America’s allies to find a solution to the threat posed by Iran is so important. The rest of the world should join the US in getting tough on Iran for all of its abuses.

US Secretary of Defence James Mattis has previously declared Iran to be the root of all trouble in the Middle East and he is right. Iran is committed to creating chaos so that it can take control, no matter the cost, and the mullahs will never stop.

Even Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), confirmed it.

He said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is at its best. The Iranian revolution is quickly spreading beyond the republic’s borders; with the same speed it opens the front lines of revolution, achieving [Khomeini’s] goals.”

The Regime tries to paint itself as a mixture of moderates and hardliners, but we can see the truth. All of the regime are hardliners, who threaten the safety of neighbouring states, support terrorism, and brutalise their own people.

Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the US, wrote: “We cannot pass the buck and hope things get better. Committing to a firm policy of containing Iran, and all its mischievous activity, will solve more problems than just saying: “Something must be done.” The world must join us to confront Iran with seriousness and intent. Iran needs to know it will pay a price if it continues to violate international law and interfere in the affairs of its neighbours. Iran must be punished economically and diplomatically, with all options kept on the table to ensure the strength and integrity of diplomacy. And the Middle East’s legitimate state institutions — in Yemen, Iraq and elsewhere — need to be supported as they fight Iran’s proxies of chaos.”
