According to human rights activists, the Iranian regime has carried out at least 12 executions in the past week. On December 20, the Human Rights Association No to Prison – No to Execution declared that Iranian authorities have executed 12 prisoners from December 12 to December 19.

“There is a high figure of death-row prisoners who number their days, including, 14 inmates in Qom Central Prison and three prisoners in Zahedan Prison,” the human rights association reported.

These statistics do not clarify the whole story because they were obtained through official sources and local resources. In Iran, the judiciary easily purges political dissidents and followers of ethnic and religious minorities under baseless accusations. The regime clandestinely executes many people whose news remains secret.

Summary of Repression and Human Rights Violations in Iran – November 2020

These inhuman sentences follow as:

December 12— three executions in Tehran and the city of Esfarayen in North Khorasan province, northeastern Iran. In Tehran, authorities executed Iranian journalist Ruhollah Zam, who had previously been sentenced to death by ‘Judge’ Abolqassem Salavati.

In October 2019, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) abducted Zam in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf by a ‘honeytrap’ technique. The Judiciary accused Zam of Moharebeh [waging war against God] and corruption on earth, a common accusation for sending people to the gallows.

December 16— three inmates were hanged at Karaj Rajaeishahr Prison in Alborz province, west of Tehran. Authorities released no information about these persons.

December 17— three inmates, Mohammad Moradi, Rasoul Ferdous, and Shahab Javid, were executed in Saqqez Central Prison, Borujerd Prison, and Qom Central Prison, respectively.

According to No to Prison – No to Execution, Shahab Javid had been sentenced to death ten years ago. In recent years, the guards had tortured him by mock execution for three times. In addition to Javid, there are 14 death-row prisoners in Qom Central Prison and authorities may practice their death penalty every moment.

December 18— a female inmate was executed at Ahvaz Sepidar Prison in Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran. According to reports, she was a poor prisoner and made ends meet by nursing. One day, one of her patients suddenly and unknowingly died.

The State Security Forces (SSF) immediately detained her and transferred them to the prison. Judiciary accused her of murder and sentenced her to death. And eventually, the regime hanged her in Sepidar prison.

December 19— two Baluch inmates, Behnam Rigi and Shoaib Rigi, were executed at Zahedan Prison in Sistan & Baluchestan Prison, southeastern Iran.

Authorities implemented these death penalties following the United Nations’ condemnation of the grave and systematic violations of human rights in Iran. Iran egregiously defies international norms and human rights values.

Authorities Sold Body Organs of Iran Protests Victims

“While welcoming the adoption of the 67th UN resolution condemning Human Rights violations in Iran, I reiterate that the clerical regime’s leaders must face justice for four decades of crimes against humanity, and their immunity must end,” said Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

“The clerical regime flagrantly violates the fundamental rights of the people of Iran in all political, social and economic respects and it must be rejected by the international community,” she affirmed.
