According to the Bahar News Website, a middle-aged man from Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari Province in western Iran hung himself from the roof of his house midday on Sunday, February 2nd, according to the commander of the township’s security forces. This man was exactly as old as the revolution. People of the town have recognized this suicide of a man as old as the revolution as a symbol for the critical situation facing young people in Iran.

The day before on Saturday, Febrary 1st, a 29-year-old woman from Andimeshk set herself on fire and died on her way to the hospital. She leaves behind her husband and 7-year-old daughter. Andimeshk is a city in the oil-rich province of Khuzestan that produces the most oil in all of Iran; however, in the rule of the mullahs, the husband of this young woman lost his job in the factory where he worked. The stress of his termination is seen by family members as the main stressor contributing to this woman’s dramatic death.
