In an annotated address by Gingrich to the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OAIC) on U.S. Policy toward Iran Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, be began by saying, “This is a very interesting time. The president’s UN speech of Sep. 20, 2017, to the United Nations and his Iran strategy speech of Oct. 13 in Washington and that of mine of Oct. 20. The president’s address concerned refraining from re-certifying Iran’s compliance with terms of the July 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the Permanent Members of the Security Germany with Iran.”

Gingrich claimed that the president’s address followed the right path, that Trump didn’t break out of the agreement, but communicated it was not viable. He said that Trump reminded us the accord is not just about nuclear weapons. Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 was written in such a way that decertification was a national interest consideration, however, it is not the only consideration. According to Gingrich, it is prudent to refrain from leaving the agreement now, but it is time to say it should be revisited, rethought, and may well be renegotiated.

Gingrich outlined his position in and a newsletter during the week beginning Oct. 8, which is titled, “Death to America.” He claims that this debate is not only about Iran’s nuclear program, but is also about ending a dictatorship by the Iranian people, not by an outside invasion.

“The Iranian regime is ultimately a mortal danger to the United States to the Iranian people in 1988, and to the world,” Gingrich said.

In 1988, Tehran assassinated 30,000 political prisoners, most of whom were pro-democracy members of the People’s Mujahedeen of Iran (PMOI), Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK), which is now the largest unit within the National Council for Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI-US) published a manuscript that examines vital factors and trends, including the overwhelming and accelerating influence, especially since 2005, of the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This study, is called IRAN: The Rise of the Revolutionary Guards’ Financial Empire: How the Supreme Leader and the IRGC Rob the People to Fund International Terror. It shows how ownership of property in various spheres of the economy is gradually shifted from the population towards a minority ruling elite comprised of the Supreme Leader’s office and the IRGC, using 14 powerhouses.

Gingrich referred to the Iranian regime’s operations in Washington, saying, “I also think that we must look at — and this is a real sea change — I’ve been actively involved in this, including involvement in trying to defend the good name of the National Council of Resistance of Iran and the MEK all the way back to when I was Speaker. Because basically the Iranian dictatorship ran a ‘false flag’ operation to set up a totally phony designation the State Department and bureaucracy accepted.”

The term false flag terrorism” refers to what occurs when elements within a government stage a secret operation designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear to be an attack carried out by other entities. The attack is then falsely blamed on that entity.

Although the resistance was trying to tell us the truth about the dictatorship, for a long period of time we were unwilling to listen, because the dictatorship spread untruths about the resistance. However, we’ve gradually worked our way back, according to Gingrich.

“I do believe that in fact the NCRI has a tremendous potential, and I also want to say that I believe that Mrs. [Maryam] Rajavi has done an amazing job of leading an organization through a very long, very difficult period. And I would hope that at some point in the future that she would be given an invitation to officially visit the United States, and have a chance both to meet with American leaders in Washington, but also to go around the country. She is one of the examples of a symbol of resistance to the dictatorship that would have a huge impact across the whole country and would also send an important signal to Europe about the way in which our policies are moving,” said Gingrich.
